Self-care is knowing when to say no and make your own needs a priority

IMG_20180520_001500_078Sometimes,, self care not doing something. For example when that something may harm us in some way.

I was due to go to a birthday party today. It was in a pub which l always have to be careful about as l’m a recovering alcoholic and addict. In the right circumstances l am fine in pubs, but when they are overly loud and people are drunk and loud, it’s just not good for me. Not that I’d want a drink, its just that witnessing and being part of that atmosphere is just so alien and uncomfortable for me now.

With it being the royal wedding and the FA cup, l knew the pub would be packed. I decided that it would likely be too loud and stressful so l chose to excuse myself and stay safe.Ones health and well-being should always come first so never be afraid to say no and assert what you need.
