About Me

Hi, I’m Finlay Games. I’m a writer, speaker and content creator, and I’ve spent many years sharing my experiences of gender transition, disability, chronic illness, neurodivergence, mental health and recovery from addiction.

I’ve always been interested in the stories we tell about ourselves, and what happens when we begin to question them.

Much of my work has come from my own experiences of transitioning, living with chronic illness and disability, discovering that I’m autistic and ADHD, and learning how to live in a way that works for the person I actually am, rather than the person I thought I was supposed to be

My work

Over the years I’ve created a lot of different things.

I wrote Top to Bottom: A Memoir and Personal Guide Through Phalloplasty, published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers in 2022. You can find more information about my memoir here. I also sell personalised signed copies of my book, as well as Phallo resources through Kofi.

I’ve also created hundreds of videos on YouTube, covering everything from transition and disability to chronic illness, neurodivergence, mental health and my everyday life.

I’ve written extensively in many different forms, including articles, blog posts and longer reflections on Substack. You can find my newsletter there too.

There’s a lot here on this website too, including information about my work, my book and links to my videos and other projects.

Taking things more slowly

Over the last few years, as my health has become more challenging, I’ve gradually scaled back the amount of work I do so that I can prioritise my health, wellbeing and life outside of work.

More recently, my circumstances have changed significantly. I’m going through the end of a long-term relationship and preparing to move into a home of my own, which will also mean learning how to navigate living independently as a disabled person for the first time. Alongside the practical changes, I’m also processing the loss of a relationship that has been a huge part of my life and everything that has come with that.

It’s a lot to navigate, particularly alongside my existing health challenges, so I’m taking that scaling back a stage further and entering a deeper period of rest.

I don’t yet know exactly what this period of rest is going to look like, or how long it will last. Right now, I need to honour what my body and mind need and give myself the space to adjust to a very different chapter of my life, without putting pressure on myself to know what comes next.

That means I’m not currently working to deadlines or trying to maintain a regular schedule of content. I may still create something when I have the energy and something I want to share, but I’m also giving myself permission to let things be quiet when I don’t.

For now, this website will remain largely static while I’m resting. It isn’t abandoned; I’m simply taking a step back.

There is already a lot here to explore, with years of videos, writing, resources and other content in the archives. I hope you’ll find something useful or interesting here, even while I’m quieter.

You can also still find personalised signed copies of my book and phalloplasty resources in my Ko-fi shop, which remains open.

You may still find the occasional new video on my YouTube channel or a post on Substack when I have something I want to share and the energy to create it. I’m also still on Facebook and Instagram, although I’m scaling back my use of social media too and may only check in occasionally

If you’d like to support my work

My memberships and donations via YouTube and Kofi are still open for anyone who would like to support me and the work I’ve already created.

I’m no longer taking an active role in providing regular membership content. Instead, membership is simply a way to support the existing body of work while I take this time for myself.

There’s absolutely no expectation to join or continue a membership. The content I’ve created over the years will remain available to explore whether you support me or not.

For now, I’m learning that it’s okay for life to be quieter.

Thanks for being here.
