Sun shining through clouds. Test reads, my silver linings, the lockdown silver linings tag

Gratitude is a powerful tool for good mental wellbeing. So, when I was tagged to take part in The Lockdown Silver Linings Tag, I was more than happy to oblige! We are living in one of the most worrying and uncertain times of our lives. By taking time out to find appreciation, for even the seemingly smallest thing in our lives, it can help to lift our spirits and take care of our mental wellbeing.

The Lockdown Silver Linings Tag was started by Twin Mummy and Daddy, to spread some positivity and I think It’s a wonderful idea. Thank you to Hannah at fourfoxsake for tagging me. Here then, are my top Lockdown Silver Linings.

1. My Boyfriend – My Knight In Lockdown Silver Lining!

My biggest silver lining is most definitely my boyfriend! I realize how lucky I am to be in lockdown with someone by my side. Many are not so fortunate. Don’t get me wrong, I already appreciated my boyfriend, but now, I appreciate him more than ever!

Chris makes me laugh, he keeps me upbeat and he understands when the stress of all this turns me into a grump! I am also really struggling to get outside at the moment, due to heightened anxiety. So, I am now really appreciating Chris’s day off, when I can have his support and go for a walk for our allotted one hour outside activity.

2. Living Near To The Sea

I love the sea; it is so incredibly calming to watch the waves roll in and hear the sound of the sea breathing in and out. We live across the road from the seafront which right now I am immensely grateful for. Even a brief five-minute walk along the promenade, can completely change my mood.

3. A Well Practiced Self-Care Routine

I am very grateful that I already have a number of tools in my wellness kit. My well-practiced self-care is helping me to help look after my mental health. I have been finding things really difficult and anxiety is worse than it’s been for a while. This has made me dig deep into that wellness kit, and take lots of time to practice soothing techniques for my anxiety. Taking time to simplify my life, taking the pressure off and practicing lots of self-kindness, is now a daily silver lining.

4. My Bucket Balcony

Me and my partner live in a second-floor flat. We have a tiny little space outside our kitchen window. It’s not designed to be a balcony, rather it is part of the balustrade for the main entrance. I’m not sure what you call these (and if you know, please do tell me!) but I call it our bucket balcony as it’s almost like a trough! Having access to this small bit of outside space is a huge silver lining for me, especially on days when my anxiety is far too high to manage a walk.

5. Our Online Community

I am incredibly grateful that we have access to a huge amount of online support and community connection during this difficult time. I have a wonderful community of people who have followed my journey here and on YouTube.

The FinnFam are a massively supportive bunch. We have been hanging out a lot in livestreams and chats and my goodness that really does lift my spirits! At least, with ease of access to the online world, in this difficult time, we can all stay close in spirit whilst staying distanced in proximity.
